Feeling a Litta Curazy!

I'm new to parenting teens.  You all know that.  So...I'm looking for advice from ones who either have teens or work with teens.  My teen and preteen are extremely social and go into depressed mode when they can't "hang with their friends."  My problem.  I don't necessarily trust my teens.  I don't necessarily trust their friends.  So how do I let them not go crazy while still making sure they aren't off doing anything...illegal?  Just "trusting" them is out the door.  These are good kids that aren't used to parental guidance.

  1. I'm not there yet so I'm not sure what to tell you. All I know is when my mom put to many restrictions on us she had more trouble than when she worked with us. I'd say talk to them and see if you can work something out.

  2. I am not good in the advice dept. esp about teenagers, but my first thought was what's wrong with them hangin' out at your place? Then you can get to know their friends better and whether "trusting them" is even an option.

Good Luck! I'm thinking and praying for you.

  3. Thanks for the advice. I'm going to try a bit of both. Kids don't want to feel like they live in a jail cell but there has to be consequences. And I LOVE the idea of them hanging here. There's nothing wrong with coming here.
